NUCO Paediatric First Aid

Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. It will be of particular interest to teachers, childminders, crèche assistants, pre-school personnel, and anyone who has responsibilities for youngsters while in their care.

The two-day course is compliant with guidelines issued by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted.

Course content:

A minimum of 12 hours makes up the two units consisting of theoretical and practical work.

  • Unit 1: Emergency Paediatric First Aid
  • Unit 2: Managing Paediatric illness, injury and emergencies

A range of subjects will be covered, including:

  • Responsibilities and reporting
  • Assessment and the situation
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Infantile convulsions
  • Control of bleeding and shock
  • Eye injuries
  • Sickle cell anaemia
  • Resuscitation
  • Head injuries
  • Diabetes
  • Foreign bodies
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Heat and cold
  • Fainting
  • Choking
  • Fractures
  • Meningitis
  • Burns
  • Asthma

After successful assessment, the delegate will receive a certificate valid for 3 years.

Who should attend?

Ideal for individuals who are responsible for children and infants, who want to gain a nationally accredited Level 3 Award. Delegates must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify.

In order to gain this qualification, delegates must attend both days and complete the two units.
