It is envisaged that at the end of this course the learner will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry & their responsibilities as an Operator
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturers handbook & be familiar with other sources of information available including relevant legislation
- Be able to locate & identify the major components of the machine & explain their functions
- Be able to locate & identify key controls & explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers and legislative requirements
- Identify & maintain PPE appropriate for a petrol driven cut off saw
- Select suitable type of abrasive wheel and battery / petrol cut off saw relative to the work being undertaken
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area & set up a safety zone
- Prepare the machine for use & operate machinery safely & efficiently
- Environmental considerations
- Carry out all end of shift & shut down procedures
On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive an NPORS card valid for 5 years, after which a refresher course can be undertaken.
